Some Cake Recipes!

A cake is always nice to add to any dessert table.. even if there are only 2 of us this year for the holidays I plan on making a few recipes .. won’t be able to eat it all so some will be delivered on doorsteps this year & I will wave from the car! There are many more cake recipes on this blog so have a look through the dessert section!

Gingerbread Cake

This recipe is from Mrs. Carter who lived in Yellowknife and was the mother of my good friend. I learned a lot about cooking and baking from their whole family when I first moved to Yellowknife after getting married. This Gingerbread Cake has a deep intense flavour. I like to serve it with a bit…

Rum Cake

I have made this Rum Cake several times & it is always a hit…Murray really likes rum..so I raid the liquor cabinet & make this with whatever rum I find…usually it is a really nice sweet ‘sipping’ rum, but any rum will do.

Molly’s Kahlua Vodka Cake

My niece Molly told me about this delicious cake! Moist & very flavourful, it made a wonderful dessert & the leftovers were great with a cup of coffee!!

Triple Layer Carrot Cake

i have made many carrot cake recipes & they always fall short of this one…

Apple Rum Cake – Non-Dairy

I adapted a recipe for Mark Bittman to make this cake. I like his recipes. This cake was moist & very flavourful!

Many people ask me "how did you do that?" "will you show me how?' So I decided to make a blog about what I cook and bake. I am in no way a professional cook, but I love to feed people and try new things as well as making the "old foods" My friends are wonderful cooks, each with their own 'specialty' and i will be having guest cooks here, showcasing their favourite things to cook as well!! I hope you enjoy this blog and maybe decide to make some of these foods yourself! I am always available to answer any questions you might have about anything you see here. Some of my recipes are unique to me but most are not. They are all recipes I have found in a variety of ways, some are old family recipes that date back decades and some are new ones!
