Zelda’s Varenikis

My mother-in-law Zelda is famous for her varenikis. These are different from the pyroghy recipe I posted at the beginning of the year,,,,Peroghy…Pirogi…Pierogi anyway you spell it, they are delicious The peroghy have a dough that has sour cream in it & the dough for the varenikis is dairy free.

Simple Coleslaw

This recipe is adapted from one my mother-in-law makes. I have cut down the sugar & some of the spices… My MIL always had coleslaw in the fridge whenever we went there to visit! Everyone ate coleslaw at least once a day!!

Challah ( makes 4 round loaves or 3 twisted loaves) Updated Sept/18

I’m sure there as many recipes for Challah as there are stars in the sky..well, maybe not quite but really, there are a lot of recipes. And..most people feel that their recipe is the best… and I am sure they are! This recipe is the one I use to make round Challah for Rosh Hashanah… I don’t use this recipe during the year since it makes 4 saves & I don’t need that many every week.

Raspberry Scones

Another great recipe from Smitten Kitchen! These raspberry scones have a delicious subtle flavour. I ate a couple fresh the day I made them, the next day I cut one in half & toasted it… put some butter on which melted into the warm crispy scone… SO GOOD!!!
