Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce

Could this be the fastest most delicious thing ever?? I think it is! It took maybe a total of 15 minutes from start to finish… and wow is it good!

I follow smittenkitchen.com & she had this recipe in her email the other day . It could not have come at a better time! I am making an ice cream cake for this weekend when we are having company over for dinner & wanted some hot fudge sauce! It has a really rich chocolate flavour & isn’t too sweet. I know it will be perfect in my ice cream cake or on simple vanilla ice cream with some sprinkles on top!!! I have put it in the fridge to use later so I do not have a picture of it on something…just in the jar. I did taste it though & it is so good!

Here is the recipe from smitten kitchen.com

Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce

2 tbsp unsalted butter

2/3 cup whipping cream

1/2 cup light corn syrup or honey *** I used the corn syrup since I didn’t really want it to have a honey flavour

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup cocoa powder

1/4 tsp table salt

1 cup semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chips *** I used semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method

  1. Combine the butter, whipping cream, corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa powder & table salt in a medium size saucepan. Simmer on low hear, stirring constantly, until all of the ingredients have melted & it is smooth. Approx. 3-5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat
  3. Add the chocolate chips & stir until the chocolate is melted
  4. Stir in the vanilla

It is ready to eat now, but it thickens as it sits, so the recipe suggests to wait 15 – 20 minutes before eating it!!

Store any leftovers in a jar in the refrigerator … will keep for a month or two!!

Enjoy!

Many people ask me "how did you do that?" "will you show me how?' So I decided to make a blog about what I cook and bake. I am in no way a professional cook, but I love to feed people and try new things as well as making the "old foods" My friends are wonderful cooks, each with their own 'specialty' and i will be having guest cooks here, showcasing their favourite things to cook as well!! I hope you enjoy this blog and maybe decide to make some of these foods yourself! I am always available to answer any questions you might have about anything you see here. Some of my recipes are unique to me but most are not. They are all recipes I have found in a variety of ways, some are old family recipes that date back decades and some are new ones!
