Could this be the fastest most delicious thing ever?? I think it is! It took maybe a total of 15 minutes from start to finish… and wow is it good!
I follow smittenkitchen.com & she had this recipe in her email the other day . It could not have come at a better time! I am making an ice cream cake for this weekend when we are having company over for dinner & wanted some hot fudge sauce! It has a really rich chocolate flavour & isn’t too sweet. I know it will be perfect in my ice cream cake or on simple vanilla ice cream with some sprinkles on top!!! I have put it in the fridge to use later so I do not have a picture of it on something…just in the jar. I did taste it though & it is so good!
Here is the recipe from smitten kitchen.com
Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce
2 tbsp unsalted butter
2/3 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup light corn syrup or honey *** I used the corn syrup since I didn’t really want it to have a honey flavour
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 tsp table salt
1 cup semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chips *** I used semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Method
- Combine the butter, whipping cream, corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa powder & table salt in a medium size saucepan. Simmer on low hear, stirring constantly, until all of the ingredients have melted & it is smooth. Approx. 3-5 minutes.
- Remove from heat
- Add the chocolate chips & stir until the chocolate is melted
- Stir in the vanilla
It is ready to eat now, but it thickens as it sits, so the recipe suggests to wait 15 – 20 minutes before eating it!!
Store any leftovers in a jar in the refrigerator … will keep for a month or two!!
Enjoy!

Simple, and I’m sure delicious.
