I love scones. Crispy on the outside, flaky inside. There is a trick to making a good scone I think. Not too much handling of the dough. Like a pie crust. I am not an expert but I like to make them & keep them in the freezer. When I want to eat one, I just pop it in the microwave briefly so it is just defrosted & not over-done.
” This is a re-post that I have updated ” I know…you are wondering why you would make your own donuts at home when you can buy delicious ones everywhere? Well, the answer to that will become evident when you try making these donuts at home!

This sweet noodle kugel with apples & raisins ( you can omit the raisins if you don’t like them!) is a family recipe of my friend Pnina. I am so honoured that she shared this recipe with me. Perfect for this time of year when there is an abundance of apples….but don’t limit yourself to just eating it now…it is perfect for anytime!Continue reading “Sweet Noodle Kugel with Apples Raisins”
An old family recipe for a cottage cheese ‘pie’ baked in a square pan…so not really a ‘pie’ but not a square either! This recipe has a cake like bottom, cottage cheese filling & cake like top… slightly sweet but not too much sugar…baked to a golden brown. But it isn’t really a cake either! You will just have to make it & decide what to call it yourself!!
I cut the recipe for this pumpkin cake out of a magazine in 2002. I love this cake so much that I have the paper in a clear plastic sleeve so that it doesn’t get ruined! It is perfect for pumpkin lovers & even if you don’t love pumpkin, you might find that you like this cake. …The pumpkin flavour is so subtle. I love these cottage cheese muffins. The recipe is from over 40 years ago! Our family has been making them forever! I think the original recipe was given to my mom by a friend of hers. Sometimes I would play majong with my mom’s group & this friend of hers would make the cheese muffins to eat at the game. I always looked forward to them & never hesitated to play there. I think of her fondly whenever I make them.
This is delicious! I grew up eating tuna sandwiches on white bread with some Old Dutch plain potato chips. Absolute comfort food for me. Don’t get me wrong, I still love this. And…. the tuna doesn’t have anything added to it…just Kraft Mayonnaise.. BUT….. this tuna with curry is fantastic!
I decided to try a new recipe for roasting a bone-in turkey breast. Checking the internet, there were so many recipes…how to choice? Continue reading “Roasted Turkey Breast with Herbs”
I saw this recipe for split pea soup on Smitten Kitchen. I could not resist making it! The recipe is so simple & good..healthy, I made it vegan…& quick since I made it in the Instant Pot.
