Chocolate Cherry Cake

This Chocolate Cherry Cake takes only minutes to mix up & it is delicious! Only 4 ingredients!1

The recipe is from a cookbook from 1991. California Kosher. This book is a collection of recipes form the Women’s League of a synagogue in North Hollywood Califiornia

I have made several recipes from this book but have been looking at this one for years! The recipe is attributed to M. Becker in the book.

I made this for company the other night & everyone loved it & many took seconds! The cake is moist & the Cherrys are disbursed nicely throughout the cake!

I changed the recipe a bit as usual!! The recipe also calls for an icing to poured overtop but I did not put any icing on. Instead I sprinkled some icing sugar over the cake just before serving. I like the look of a cake sprinkled with icing sugar!

Here is the recipe

Ingredients

3 eggs

1 boxed Chocolate Cake Mix

1 20 0z can Cherry Pie Filling

1 tsp vanilla extract

icing sugar for dusting the cake

Method

Preheat oven to 350f. Grease a bundt pan

  1. Beat the 3 eggs in a large bowl & mix in the vanilla
  2. Add the Chocolate Cake Mix & the cherry pie filling. Mix well so that there is not any visible dry cake mix anywhere.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Spread it out so that it is even
  4. Bake fro approximately 45-50 minutes until it is completely baked
  5. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes then turn out carefully onto a wire cooling rack.
  6. Dust with icing sugar before serving.

Enjoy!

Many people ask me "how did you do that?" "will you show me how?' So I decided to make a blog about what I cook and bake. I am in no way a professional cook, but I love to feed people and try new things as well as making the "old foods" My friends are wonderful cooks, each with their own 'specialty' and i will be having guest cooks here, showcasing their favourite things to cook as well!! I hope you enjoy this blog and maybe decide to make some of these foods yourself! I am always available to answer any questions you might have about anything you see here. Some of my recipes are unique to me but most are not. They are all recipes I have found in a variety of ways, some are old family recipes that date back decades and some are new ones!

  1. I recently read a similar recipe that was called Coal Miner’s Chocolate Cake. The main difference was that it was baked in a 9×13″ pan and topped with a “fudge” icing. Both cakes look delicious!
