I saw this recipe on The Nosher & it is unbelievably delicious! It might seem unusual with these ingredients but really…it is good!
You may not be used to eating tahini & halva but they are really good…tahini is not great on its own out of the jar, but with some additions it is delicious. I love it…& have posted several recipes using it

& there are more!
These brownies are rich, not very sweet & have the distinct interesting flavour of the tahini & halva…And …they are gluten-free so if you need a gluten free, parve ( non-dairy) dessert you should seriously consider giving this recipe a try. We are not gluten free but that doesn’t matter…. I will make this recipe again for sure. The only problem is …I kept eating them! So, I had to put them in the freezer…ha
I had a bit of a problem baking them…the time suggested in the recipe left the centre a bit raw, so I baked them for longer, so just make sure you check them before taking them out of the oven to make sure they are cooked through completely.
I see that there are several recipes online for gluten-free brownies with tahini & I have only tried this one, but I will not try the other recipes..this one is too delicious to switch!
Here is the recipe…from The Nosher
(I left out a couple ingredients…the cardamon…and I used maple syrup as my sweetener..the recipe gave choices…agava syrup, honey or maple syrup…)
Ingredients
1/2 cup tahini & extra to drizzle on the top…(YUM)
3 eggs
1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
1 tbsp vanilla
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/3 cup halvah, crumbled
Method
preheat oven to 350f
grease a 8×8 square baking dish or cake pan
- I used one bowl to mix all of this…you can mix it in a food processor or mixer if you want but it was pretty easy to mix with a wooden spoon
- Put the 1/2 cup tahini, eggs, sweetener, vanilla, vinegar, in a bowl & mix to combine well
- Sift the cocoa into the bowl….i use a small colander to do this… cocoa usually has lumps in it & it is better if you can sift it in so you can get rid of the lumps
- Add the salt, cinnamon & baking soda….Mix well
- Add the chocolate chips
- Pour this batter into the prepared baking dish
- Now,,,,, sprinkle the crumbled halvah all over the top of the batter
- Drizzle some tahini on tip of the halvah
- Bake for 15 – 20 minutes until completely cooked
- Let cool at least 30 minutes to an hour before cutting as it is easier to cut when completely cool
Enjoy!
This is tecipe for me 🙂 I love halva and everything with this just amazing !!!
