Making Masks instead of Food!

I haven’t had a chance to post anything for awhile ….I have been busy sewings masks. I am not a great sewer but over the last week or so I have improved with practice!!!

I am not advocating wearing masks.. that is a personal choice. and one has to understand the correct way to wear a mask…it is very important..just sharing what I have been up to! I am in no way an expert on pandemics and communicable diseases!

Murray and I have been busy making masks all week! Murray has been cutting out the patterns and I have been sewing them— then he helps finish them!

I must say I prefer to be in the kitchen but I really feel like we are doing something important, even though there is some controversy about wearing masks.

We have only make masks for some of our family and friends

Murray found a pattern that he thought was good..and it was..but it is complicated to sew… not sure I did it properly! This mask has a pocket for a filter and a nose piece to fit it properly.

Then a friend of ours told me about a mask she thought might be good… The Olsen Mask .. it has a pocket to put a filter in which is suppose to give more protection. We looked into the mask and decided it would be the pattern we would use.

Here is a link to the Olsen Mask. There are many tutorials on You Tube about making this mask so check it out before you decide to make it. We just found a revised pattern making it bigger and also a video with some very good tips

Of course we are concerned that people wear the masks correctly and not to think that masks are in place of staying home and social distancing ..they are not … people have to follow the directions of the public health officials They are the experts but .. masks seem to becoming important so that is why we are making them

I hope to get back to blogging recipes soon!

There are so many recipes on my site that you might want to browse through the posts if you have time!!!!

Let me know if you try something and what you think about it!!

Stay safe and stay home and remember to observe social distancing
