I have a donut pan,, it is made by Norpro. On the cardboard sleeve that came with the pan, there were 2 recipes for donuts… I have misplaced that cardboard sleeve….
I called the company & the woman I spoke to was kind enough to email me the recipes!
These little donuts are so quick & simple to make. The batter can be mixed by hand, each recipe makes 24 donuts..though I only got 23 of the chocolate ones since I filled some of the little donut portions too full!
I am sure that this donut baking pan is available on Amazon. It is worth getting! It is called the Norpro 3980 12-Count Nonstick Mini Donut Pan
You can bake them & then decorate them anyway you like!
I baked some chocolate donuts, I glazed them & used ice cream sprinkles on some, ball sprinkles on some,,,left a few just glazed & 1 plain.
I dipped some of the cake donuts in cinnamon sugar while they were slightly warm still so the sugar mixture would stick…I glazed some & put ice cream sprinkles on them, left some just glazed & then glazed the rest & dipped them in sweetened coconut flakes!
I love these little delicious mini donuts!
Here are the recipes from Norpro
CHOCOLATE DONUTS
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup cocoa
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
2 eggs
2/3 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp butter, melted
Method
Preheat oven to 325f
Spray the donut baking pan with non-stick spray
- Combine the flour, cocoa..*** sift the cocoa into the flour, this eliminates lumps in the cocoa…baking powder & salt… set aside
- In another bowl, big enough to hold all of the batter…you will add the flour & liquids to this egg mixture…whisk the eggs, sugar & vanilla together until thick, set aside
- Combine the milk, melted butter in another bowl or measuring cup
- Now, you will add the flour & liquids alternately to the egg mixture, mixing well after each addition
- If you have an icing piping bag, use it to put the batter into the prepared donut sections in the pan. This makes it very simple to fill them. If you do not, you can cut the corner off of a zip loc bag or you can use a teaspoon & then your finger to smooth out the batter…
- Fill the donut sections 2/3 full….this batter makes 24 donuts, so set the remaining batter aside while the first batch bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 – 9 minutes until they are completely cooked
- When baked, remove from the oven to a cooling rack. Let the donuts cool in the pan for a few minutes then gently remove them using a knife to aid you if necessary
- Let the donuts cool completely on a wire rack before glazing them
- You can glaze these donuts, sprinkle them with icing sugar or leave them plain. They are delicious anyway!
DONUT GLAZE This glaze is used for either the chocolate donut or the cake donut & makes enough for the 24 donuts I mixed this up while the donuts were baking . You have to wait until the donuts are completely cool before glazing them
Ingredients
1 cup Icing sugar
2 tbsp HOT water
- Sift the icing sugar into a bowl. This eliminates lumps in the sugar!
- Add the hot water & stir to combine
- Put the glaze into a dish or bowl that you can dip teh donuts into
- Dip the cooled donut in the glaze & the dip teh glazed donut into any sprinkle to topping you like… sprinkles..finely chopped nuts, coconut, chocolate sprinkles, ball sprinkles, etc
- You can tint the glaze with food colouring to make coloured donuts
CAKE DONUTS
Ingredients
2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp butter, melted
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Method
Preheat oven to 325f
Spray the donut baking pan with non-stick spray
- Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt & cinnamon & nutmeg together in a large bowl.
- Add the butter, beaten eggs & milk to the flour mixture
- Beat well until completely combined. I did this by hand
- Fill the prepared donut holes 2/3 full. As per #5 above, use a piping bag for this or cut a ziploc bag or a spoon
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8 – 9 minutes until the donuts spring back when gently touched. These do not get brown…
- Remove from the oven & let cool in the pan for a few minutes on a wire rack
- Remove them from the pan & continue cooling
- If you are going to dip your donuts in sugar, I mixed up some cinnamon sugar for some of these donuts, you want to dip them in the sugar while they are still warm so the sugar sticks. IF you want to glaze these donuts, wait until they are fully cooled
