Brownies

These brownies are rich, dark & delicious. Made with Hershey’s cocoa, the recipe is from the Hershey Chocolate Company. I have s 2-sided piece of paper with the BEST recipes on it! I must have gotten this sheet paper over 30 years ago!!

The brownie recipe is called Deep-Dish Brownie …the recipe is pretty straight forward. Nothing too difficult & you can mix it by hand. Add some chocolate frosting …everyone will love it when you make these! Just before Murray bit into a brownie, he mentioned that he didn’t really like brownies…. chew … chew… & he loved these!!! So there you go, this is a really good recipe.

Here is the recipe

Ingredients

Brownies

3/4 cup butter, melted

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 1/2 tsp vanilla

3 eggs

3/4 cup flour

1/2 cup cocoa

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

Frosting

3 tbsp butter, softened

3 tbsp  cocoa

1 1/3 cup icing sugar

3 – 4 tbsp  milk

1 tsp vanilla

Method

Preheat oven to 350f

8 x 8 baking dish, grease well

Brownies

  1. Mix the melted butter, sugar & vanilla together in a medium size bowl
  2. Add eggs & beat well
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder & salt together
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture & mix until well combined
  5. Spread the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly
  6. Bake for approx 40- 45 minutes. Brownies will pull away for the edges of the pan when done
  7. Cool
  8. Ice if desired when completely cool

Frosting

  1. Cream the butter in a small bowl
  2. Sift the cocoa & icing sugar into a separate bowl
  3. Add the sifted cocoa & icing sugar to the butter alternately with the milk
  4. Mix well
  5. Mix in the vanilla

SPREAD THE FROSTING ON THE BROWNIES WHEN THE BROWNIES ARE COMPLETELY COOL. I SPRINKLED SOME ICE CREAM SPRINKLES ON TOP…THIS OF COURSE IS OPTIONAL!

Enjoy!

Many people ask me "how did you do that?" "will you show me how?' So I decided to make a blog about what I cook and bake. I am in no way a professional cook, but I love to feed people and try new things as well as making the "old foods" My friends are wonderful cooks, each with their own 'specialty' and i will be having guest cooks here, showcasing their favourite things to cook as well!! I hope you enjoy this blog and maybe decide to make some of these foods yourself! I am always available to answer any questions you might have about anything you see here. Some of my recipes are unique to me but most are not. They are all recipes I have found in a variety of ways, some are old family recipes that date back decades and some are new ones!
